HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's soccer battled hard through the rain but ultimately could not overcome Goucher College in a 2-1 loss Saturday at Winton Hill Field.

Juniata's (3-6-1, 0-1-0 LC) lone goal came in the 75th minute from senior Nikki Hankinson (New Baltimore, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) on a direct kick that she lofted over Goucher keeper Regan Foy's head.

The close matchup between the Eagles and the Gophers is highlighted in the statistics, with Juniata outshooting Goucher (5-3-0, 1-1-0 LC) just 10-8 and charting four corner kick opportunities to the Gophers' three.

Sophomore Jenna Rodrigue (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) led the shooting effort for the Eagles with three. Sophomores Paula Pryor (Westbrookville, N.Y./Burke Catholic) and Mackenzie Coulter-Kern (Manchester, Ind./Manchester) also added two shots apiece.

Goucher's first goal came with just one second left in the first half when junior Sam Schlosburg centered to freshman Sherlanda Buskey who poked it past the Eagles. Later in the 51st minute, Schlosburg pegged it by Juniata for the Gophers' second mark and game winner.

Juniata goalkeeper Gabriella Ricciardi (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) played just under 62 minutes for Juniata and charted one save and allowed both Gopher goals. Senior Elaina Robins (York, Pa./York Suburban) protected the Eagles' net for the remainder of the match for 28 minutes and managed to keep a threatening Goucher offense at bay.

Juniata travels to Moravian College next Saturday, Oct. 8, for a 3:30 p.m. match.
