COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Ninth-ranked Juniata College women's volleyball completed Friday's first day of competition at the Molten Colorado College Invitational with a pair of losses to nationally-ranked programs, falling to No. 15 Concordia College (Minn.), 3-0, followed by another 3-0 loss, this time to No. 2 Washington-St. Louis.

Set scores in the loss to Concordia were 25-19, 25-23, and 29-27. Juniata (5-4) dropped its decision to Washington-St. Louis by set scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-18.

Against Concordia (11-1), sophomore outside hitter Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and junior middle Ashley Schnader (Reinholds, Pa./Garden Spot) led the Eagles with 11 kills each, while rookie Cat Scholl (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic) logged eight terminations. Fellow freshman Christine Sumner (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) tacked on seven kills with a pair of block assists.

Setter Courtney Greenberg (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) racked up 39 assists, and ran a Juniata offense that hit .205 for the night, including an impressive .343 in the second set with 15 kills on 35 attacks with a .700 sideout percentage.

Senior libero Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) turned up 36 digs, while Brittani Young (Columbia, Pa./Hempfield) had 12. Rachelle Wiegand (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) also had 10 digs to aid Juniata defensively.

The Cobbers were led by Jenna Green with 22 kills on 53 swings for a .340 attack percentage, while Katie Vohnoutka had 17 kills and hit .424 for the match. As a team, Concordia posted a .237 attack percentage.

In the nightcap against Washington-St. Louis (11-0), Juniata was held to a .070 team hitting percentage against the Bears led by Amelia Kepler's (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) eight kills on 15 attacks with a .467 hitting percentage. Scholl and Miller tacked on six and five kills respectively.

The outing marked the first time since a 3-0 loss to No. 2 Emory on October 31, 2008, that Juniata has been held to a sub-.100 hitting percentage in a match.

Washington-St. Louis hit .392 against the Eagles, led by three players with double-digit kill totals. Drew Hargrave tallied 12 kills, while Lauren Budde and Meghan Byrne had 11 and 10 kills.

Greenberg finished with 23 assists for Juniata, while Morrison accounted for 13 of the Eagles' 43 digs.

Juniata completes play in the Molten Colorado College Invitational on Saturday, when it faces No. 12 Colorado College at 2:00 p.m. Eastern (12 p.m. Mountain Time).
