HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College fell 4-1 to fourth-ranked Salisbury University Saturday night at the Salisbury University Invitational.

Juniata (2-1) took 13 shots in the match, but only one found the back of the cage. Senior forward Shauna Deschenes (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) posted the lone goal for the Eagles. With only five minutes left in the contest, senior forward Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) found the stick of Deschenes for the goal.

The Sea Gulls put up all four goals in the first half of play. Senior midfielder Courtney Webster scored first for Salisbury (4-0) with an unassisted goal just one minute into the match. In the third minute senior forward Alison Bloodsworth logged a goal with an assist from senior forward Caitlin Walker. Webster recorded another goal for the Sea Gulls in the 17th minute assisted by junior forward Melissa Slocum. Slocum ended Salisbury's scoring in the 31st minute, unassisted.

Juniata senior goalie Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) played 54:28 in the contest and turned away 11 Sea Gull shots and allowed three. Freshman goalie Shelby Miller (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) saw 15:32 of playing time and logged two saves and allowed only one goal.

Next, Juniata faces Randolph-Macon College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in day two action at the Salisbury University Invitational.
