HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College softball senior Caley McCool (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball College Division Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This is McCool's second straight year on the Academic All-District team, after earning College Division First Team honors in 2010.

McCool finished the season with a .326 batting average, and led Juniata in total hits (31) and runs batted in (12). She tied the team high with eight walks and had just two strikeouts this season, fewest of any regular starter. McCool was ranked 21st among Division III leaders in toughest-to-strikeout, averaging a strikeout once in every 47.5 at bats.

Defensively, the two-time All-Landmark Conference second baseman posted a .982 fielding percentage, committing just two errors in 114 chances.

After her four-year career on College Hill, McCool ranks fourth among Juniata career hits leaders (138), fourth in career runs scored (60), and tied for ninth in career doubles (18).

To be eligible for the Academic All-District squad, nominees must have at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.00 scale, have played in at least 50 percent of their team's games at the position for which they've been nominated, and must have at least sophomore athletic eligibility. The College Division includes student-athletes at the NCAA Division II and III levels, as well as NAIA and junior college, and District II includes all institutions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

The Academic All-District teams are selected by voting of all CoSIDA members in each district, while the Academic All-America squad is selected by a national committee.
