FOOTBALL (5-2, 4-2 MAC); Oct. 26 at Susquhanna*.
*MAC game.
Following two straight losses, and trailing 10-0 after the first quarter, the Juniata College offense erupted for 38 unanswered points and finished with the highest point total since the 2000 season as the Eagles topped Lebanon Valley 54-23. The win improved the Eagles' overall record to 5-2, and moved them to 4-2 in MAC play. Lebanon Valley remained winless overall and in the conference. Juniata relied on a powerful rushing attack featuring junior Craig Moshier (Coudersport/Coudersport), who rushed for a career-high 182 yards along with three touchdowns. It was two Moshier touchdown runs, one of 18 yards, and one 10 yards, along with a Dusty Lehr (Bermudian Springs/New Oxford) field goal that moved the Eagles in front 17-10. The Eagles then made a play on special teams as senior Jason Stouffer (Newport/Newport) blocked a punt and recovered the ball at the Lebanon Valley 25-yard line. Three plays later quarterback Greg Troutman (Meyersdale/Meyersdale) completed a seven-yard pass to Andrew Raup (Danville/Danville) to put Juniata on top by 14 heading into halftime.

The intermission did not slow down the Juniata offense as the Eagles scored three more times in the third quarter. An interception by linebacker Peter Thomas (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) gave the Eagles good field position again, and Juniata took advantage as John Boyer Jr. (Indian Valley/Belleville) scored on a five-yard scoring run. After a 21-yard punt by Lebanon Valley, Juniata drove 39 yards on four plays, ending with another Troutman touchdown pass, this one to Nate Leach (Shade/Central City). After Lebanon Valley finally got back into the end zone on a 41-yard scoring pass from Zach Buffington to Jarrod Way to make the score 38-17 in favor of Juniata, the Eagles answered right back with a nine-yard scoring run from Moshier. The run finished off a 67-yard drive that gave the Eagles a 45-17 lead. One of the only negatives for the day for Juniata came on that drive, as Troutman was helped off the field following an awkward tackle. However backup Jon Collins (Lewistown/Lewistown) came right into the game and completed a 40-yard pass to set up Moshier's final scoring run. Each team scored one more time in the final quarter, with Juniata scoring on a one-yard plunge by Collins. Lebanon Valley finished the game scoring on the final games final play as the Dutchmen's back-up quarterback took it himself for a six-yard score. Juniata finished with 385 yards gained on the ground, the first time since the 1981 season that the Eagles have gained more than 300 yards with the rushing attack. Moshier's 182 yards marks the first time since a 2001 battle against Susquehanna that an Eagle has topped the 150-tard mark on the ground. Juniata had not had a runner score three touchdowns on the ground since the 1996 season. Troutman finished his day 11-25 for 137 yards and two scores. He also ran for 87 yards. Defensively for Juniata, Fred Taber (Calvert Hall College/Bel Air, Md.) recorded one sack, and had five tackles for loss. Senior linebacker Matt Wharton (Cambria Heights/Dysart) led the Eagles with eight tackles. Stouffer added six tackles, one for a loss to go with his punt block. Mike Brown (South Williamsport/South Williamsport) had an interception for Juniata and Brandon Dieffenbach (Conrad Weiser/Robesonia), Ryan Hileman (Martinsburg Central/Martinsburg) and Paul Berry (North Hagerstown/Hagerstown, Md.) each recorded one sack.
