Men's volleyball upends Carthage to open play at Thiel College Invitational

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Juniata College men's volleyball hit .422 for the match and posted a 3-0 win over 10th-ranked Carthage College, in Saturday night's opening match of the Thiel College Invitational at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Set scores for Juniata were 25-19, 26-24, and 25-21.
Senior outside hitter Chris Vrooman (Baden, Pa./Ambridge Area) and opposite Alex McColgin (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) each finished with nine kills, while setter John Almquist (York, Pa./Central York) logged 32 assists.
Junior libero Mike Kraft (York, Pa./Eastern York) turned up six digs, while sophomore middle John Prout (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) recorded five blocks.
Juniata, ranked second in this week's AVCA Division III Top 15 Coaches Poll, will face fourth-ranked Nazareth College and host Thiel College on Sunday's second day of competition at the Thiel Invitational.
