HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Sophomore goalkeeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) kept Juniata College men's soccer in a dead even 1-1 double overtime match versus Catholic University in Landmark Conference action on Saturday at Winton Hill Field.

Catholic's Ian Smith scored off of an assist from Michael DiMarco 17 minutes in, but the Eagles were persistent both on offense and defense. Trailing 1-0 at the halfway mark, Juniata's Luke Waddell (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) knotted the game at 1-1 with an unassisted goal in the 77th minute. Waddell had the most shots for his team today with four.

Juniata held Catholic at bay for a total of 110 minutes after two overtime periods, despite getting outshot by the Cardinals 34-13 during the stretch. The Cardinals also totaled eight corner kicks, while the Eagles had one.

Cassel played a phenomenal match in goal, making 17 saves in all 110 minutes and keeping the Eagles in the match especially in the overtime periods. Quinn Daly made six saves and was charged for the one goal he allowed.

Juniata returns home to host Penn State Harrisburg this Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 4:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
