WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Four different Juniata College players scored goals and three others chalked up the assists as Juniata field hockey upset 13th-ranked Catholic University, 4-2, Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium.

The win was Juniata's second of the season over a ranked opponent, and keeps Juniata (11-3) atop the Landmark Conference standings with a 4-0 league mark. Catholic (9-2) drops to 1-2 in conference play.

The Eagles didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, with junior Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) scoring just under three minutes into the game off an assist from Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro). Juniata doubled its lead to 2-0 with 18:52 showing on the first half clock, when junior Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) found the back of the cage. Jacqueline Hoozemans (Delgauw, The Netherlands/Stanislaus College) was credited with the assist.

The two sides traded goals in the span of 41 seconds with under seven minutes remaining in the first half.

Junior Molly Snyder (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) logged her second goal of the season off a pass from Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) with exactly 7:00 remaining in the opening frame. Catholic's Catherine Mirsky ended Juniata's shutout bid less than a minute later, beating Juniata goalie Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) on a penalty stroke.

The Cardinals cut the Juniata lead to 3-2 with an early goal in the second half by Meredith Chandler, but the Eagles notched an insurance goal with 2:48 left in the game. Caroline Phillips (Wilmington, Del./Concord) finished Amrod's penalty corner feed, putting Juniata up 4-2.

Nugent tallied three saves on Catholic's five shots on goal, while Catholic goalies Krystyanna Ramsdell and Megan Communale combined to record just one save on the afternoon. Catholic outshot Juniata 9-8, and had a 17-11 advantage in penalty corners.

Juniata returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 12, when it hosts Alvernia University at 4:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
