HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College men's basketball sophomore Alex Raymond (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area) is one of 10 Division II and III players who will be leaving for Europe on Wednesday on a five-game exhibition tour.

In addition to squaring off against some European club teams, the trip also provides an opportunity for Raymond and the rest of the team to experience some different cultures in Europe.

The tour will see the players visit the Belgian cities of Mechelen, Bruges, and Brussels, with games against club teams in Bruges (August 6) and Brussels (August 7). The all-star team heads to D¼sseldorf, Germany, on August 8 for game three, followed by a trip to Cologne, Germany, for game four on August 9. A game in Mechelen (August 10) concludes the competitive portion of the trip, then the team heads to London, England, on August 11 for a day of sightseeing before returning to the United States on August 12.

Raymond, a 5-9 point guard, averaged 10.7 points and 3.0 rebounds last season, and was second on the team in scoring. He also dished out 3.3 assists per game and tallied 21 steals. He is one of two Landmark Conference representatives on the squad, joining Susquehanna University's Fran Brzyski.

Other players on the team include Chris McDevitt (Widener University), Anthony LoRusso (Ramapo College), Sean Hughes (Rowan College), Erin Brennan (Kutztown University), Otis Smith (Univ. of Southern Maine), Damon Franklin (SUNY Cobleskill), and Ricky Hudson (American International College).

The trip is being organized by Widener University head coach Chris Carideo, who will coach the squad for the five games.
