HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Rosalie Rodriguez, enrollment counselor at Juniata College and a native of Buffalo, N.Y., has been appointed to a newly created position as Juniata's Special Assistant to the President For Diversity And Inclusion, effective July 1.

Rodriguez will be in charge of student recruitment in northeastern urban centers that feature highly diverse student populations. She also will help create programs for Juniata's student retention efforts for minority and international students and act as a liaison between minority students and their families and the college's administrative staff.

"Rosalie has been very active in establishing programs and services here at Juniata both as a student and a valued staff member," says Thomas R. Kepple, president of Juniata. "Her enthusiasm and experience with Juniata's programs will allow us to improve our efforts at bringing in a more diverse student population."

Rodriguez earned a bachelor's degree in biology and communication from Juniata in 2001. She joined Juniata's staff in July 2001 as an enrollment counselor, where she was in charge of student recruitment in New York, New Jersey and northeast Pennsylvania.

During her time at Juniata, Rodriguez served for three years as president of the student club United Cultures of Juniata College from 1998 to 2001 and served as a student member on the President's Task Force for Diversity 2000.
