HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior outside hitter Zach Wanner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) has been named the EIVA Tait Division Player of the Week, for the week ending February 14, 2010.

Wanner led Juniata (4-3, 1-1 EIVA Tait) to a pair of wins last week, including a 3-0 victory over conference rival George Mason University on Saturday night. He hit .350 against the Patriots, recording 21 kills on 40 swings against just seven errors, while adding seven digs and 3.0 total blocks. Wanner's 21 kills in the three-set win over George Mason marked the first time in 10 seasons that a Juniata player recorded 20-or-more kills in a match that was concluded in three sets.

The previous night against Rutgers-Newark, Wanner tallied 22 kills in a 3-1 win against the Scarlet Raiders. He hit .348 for the match on 46 swings, and added one ace, eight digs, and 2.0 total blocks to his line.

For the week, Wanner hit .349 and averaged 6.14 kills/set and 2.14 digs/set.

Juniata plays a pair of opponents this weekend who are ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I/II poll. The Eagles host 12th-ranked Loyola University of Chicago on Friday, Feb. 19, followed by 15th-ranked Lewis University on Saturday, Feb. 20. Both matches are at 7:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
