BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Hitting two of 15 from beyond the three point line and shooting 28.3 percent from the floor led to its demise as the Juniata College men's basketball team lost to Moravian College, 62-47, in Johnston Hall, Friday evening.

The Greyhounds led wire to wire, with only one tie in between, to split the season series with Juniata (9-14, 4-8) and all but ruin any hopes for a playoff run by the Eagles.

Coming into tonight's game, the Eagles were two games behind Susquehanna University for the fourth and final spot in the upcoming Landmark Conference tournament, and needed to run the table for a shot at overtaking the Crusaders.

The lone tie came on a layup by freshman Nate Higgins (St. Mary's, Pa. / Elk County Catholic), to knot the score at 2-2 with 18:48 remaining in the first half. From there, it was all Moravian (6-15, 2-8 Landmark).

The first half lead grew to double digits when Eric weaver hit a jumper with 3:07 left to play in the first frame. Weaver then finished off the first half by hitting a layup with 12 seconds showing on the scoreboard. The halftime score was 31-18.

Moravian used an 11-0 run, starting with 17:07 remaining in the game, to extend the lead to 22 points. The Greyhounds had back-to-back three pointers during the run by Chris Cullen and Shane Painter. The score at the end of the run was 44-22, with 12:46 left to play.

The run took wind right out of the sail for Juniata. Moravian enlarged the lead to as many as 25 before the Eagles cut it to 15 on a jumper by freshman Mike Walker (Homer City, Pa, / Homer Center) 19:21 into the second half. That would be the final bucket for either team in the game.

Freshman Alex Raymond (Hollidaysburg, Pa. / Altoona) and sophomore Andy Wolfe (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) led the team with 12 points each. Wolfe hit the only two three pointers in the game for the Eagles. Sophomore Dan Sekulski (Douglassville, Pa. / Daniel Boone) had a team high seven rebounds followed by Raymond with six.

Eric Weaver and Chris Cullen had a game high 19 points each, while Weaver led all rebounders with 13. Shane Painter was the only other Greyhound in double digits with 12.

The Eagles remain on the road and take on the University of Scranton, Saturday afternoon in another Landmark Conference battle. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
