WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Jenny McGann's layup with 4.1 seconds left on the clock lifted Catholic University to a 73-71 win over Juniata College, Friday night at the DuFour Center in Washington, D.C.

Following a pair of converted foul shots by Juniata's Ashton Bankos (York, Pa./York Catholic), tying the game at 71-71, Catholic's Brianna Peterson tossed a half-court length inbounds pass to McGann. McGann took the pass on the run, and beat one Juniata defender for a layup.

The Eagles immediately called timeout to sketch out a play for another game-tying basket to force overtime, but the inbounds pass was intercepted at the Cardinals' end of the floor.

Juniata (7-6, 1-1 Landmark) had led the game by as many as 13 points, 56-43, following senior Kelly Rotan's (Atco, N.J./Hammonton) layup with 11:17 remaining in the second half. After a few traded buckets and foul shots, the Eagles' lead held at 60-50 at the 8:58 mark of the frame, after Erin McGinley's (Ashland, Pa./Tri-Valley) layup.

However Juniata would not score for the next four-and-a-half minutes, while Catholic went on a 10-0 run and tied the game at 60-60 with a pair of McGann free throws with 5:07 to play.

Natalie Glinsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) finally broke Juniata's scoreless streak with a three-pointer at the 4:16 mark. Following a Catholic bucket to pull the Cardinals to within one, Rotan drained a three-pointer to extend Juniata's lead to 66-62 with 3:35 showing on the clock.

A layup by Catholic's Jill Woerner and five straight free throws by Peterson led the Cardinals to at first tie the game then take the lead, but Glinsky connected on another three-pointer to tie the game at 69-69 with 24 seconds remaining.

A Woerner bucket and Bankos' foul shots advanced the score to 71-71, setting the stage for McGann's game-winning layup.

Juniata had four players in double figures, led by Rotan with 18 points and 10 rebounds and four assists. She shot 7-of-18 from the field, including a 4-of-9 clip from three-point range.

Glinsky tallied 17 points, buoyed by her 5-of-8 shooting performance from beyond the arc. Altogether, Juniata was 13-of-28 from three-point range - the most threes by the Eagles this season. Bankos chipped in with 12 points and four steals, while Jen Hnatuck (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) tallied 10 points.

Catholic (9-3, 2-0 Landmark) was led offensively by Peterson, the Landmark's reigning Player of the Week, with 28 on 9-of-17 shooting from the floor. McGann finished with 17 points, while Woerner logged 11 points.

Juniata will continue the Landmark road swing on Saturday afternoon at Goucher College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
