HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Buoyed by a victory over previously top-ranked Emory University, the Juniata College women's volleyball team checked in at the number one spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III coaches poll.

The Eagles (9-0) were the unanimous number one pick, receiving all 24 first place votes and the maximum possible 600 points.

Emory (8-1) dropped to number two in the poll, followed by Wisconsin-Oshkosh (10-0).

Rounding out the top five were fourth-ranked Carthage (6-0) and fifth-ranked Ohio Northern (8-1). Completing the top ten were St. Thomas, Minn. (8-0), Washington University, Mo. (8-2), Hope College (6-0), Wisconsin-Whitewater (8-2), and tenth-ranked Calvin (5-1).

Juniata knocked off Emory 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19) in the final match of the Washington & Lee Invitational, to go with victories over NAIA-member Southern Virginia, the host squad from W&L, and Christopher Newport University. Earlier in the week, the Eagles knocked in-state rival Saint Vincent College.

Juniata will face three top 20 programs this weekend at Washington University's Teri Clemens Invitational. The Eagles will face the host Bears on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. CT, followed by matches against St. Thomas, Minn., and the University of La Verne on Saturday.
