SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's tennis team not only clinched a berth in the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Tournament, but assured itself of home court for the semifinals with a 7-2 trouncing of Susquehanna University, Friday afternoon in Selinsgrove, Pa.

The win improved Juniata's record to 12-4 overall, 5-0 in Landmark Conference matches, with only one conference match remaining - a clash with Moravian College (9-5, 4-0 Landmark) on Saturday, April 25, in Bethlehem, Pa. All other Landmark teams have at least two losses, and cannot catch Juniata in the standings.

Juniata swept all three doubles matches off Susquehanna (5-7, 1-3 Landmark), with Maggie Wolenter (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) and Caroline Weisser (York, Pa./York Suburban) having the toughest battle in their 8-6 win over the Crusaders' Shelby Werronen and Whitney Arcaro at no. 2 doubles.

The Eagles pairing at no. 1 doubles, Amanda Fontana (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) and Katie Healy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), dispatched Julia Lerner and Jessi Haas, 8-5, while Jenny Wang (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and Lauren Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) knocked off SU's Christine Crigler and Megan Roush, 8-1.

Healy extended her singles winning streak to 11 matches with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Werronen at no. 2 singles, while Wolenter maintained her eight-match win streak with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Arcaro at no. 3 singles.

Wang posted a no. 4 singles win over Haas, 6-2, 6-2, and Katie Steinour (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) completed Juniata's win ledger with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Allison Killeen at no. 6 singles.

The Eagles will host Elizabethtown College on Monday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m. on Juniata's Raffensperger Tennis Courts.
