MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The University of Charleston's two runs in the first inning held up as the Golden Eagles posted a 2-0 win over Juniata College, in the first game of Monday's doubleheader in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Juniata starter Alyssa Erb (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) fanned two Charleston batters while scattering six hits, but a two-run home run she yielded to Brittany Lobell in the first proved to be the difference in the game.

Juniata (0-1) had an opportunity to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, when Melissa Moffat (Oceanside, Calif./Oceanside) led off the inning with a double. A Tara Carl (Duke Center, Pa./Otto-Eldred) single followed by a walk by Stacy Nagy (Millerton, Pa./Troy) loaded the bases with two outs, but Rachel Nagy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) struck out looking on a pitch that barely caught the black of the plate, ending the rally.

Charleston starter Stephanie Rossman struck out 10 Eagle batters and allowed seven hits to record the complete game win.
