NEW YORK -- Senior middle hitter Dan Powers (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) chalked up a team-high 11 kills on 16 swings to lead fourth-ranked Juniata College to a 3-0 win over #10 New York University, Saturday night at the Coles Sports Center in New York. Set scores were 30-28, 30-14, 30-22.

Sophomore outside hitter Chris Vrooman (Baden, Pa./Ambridge Area) had 10 kills on 17 swings. Vrooman and Powers paced a Juniata squad that hit .402 for the game, far outpacing NYU's .095 attack percentage.

Juniata (2-2) recorded 11.0 team blocks to NYU's 4.5, led by junior middle hitter Evan Halteman (Perkiomenville, Pa./Christopher Dock) with nine total blocks on the night. Senior setter Matt Werle (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) recorded six total blocks, to go with his 34 set assists.

NYU (1-7) was led by Devin Zolnowski with 19 kills. The Violets gave away 33 points on attack errors, and recorded eight service errors.

Juniata returns to action on Friday, Feb. 6, when it hosts Princeton University in an EIVA Tait Division matchup.
