HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Stefon Alexander, an assistant professor of physics, astronomy and astrophysics at Penn State University, as well as an accomplished jazz musician, will lecture at Juniata College on the connections between physics and music in "Coltrane, Einstein and Cosmology" at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science on the Juniata campus.

The talk is free and open to the public.

Alexander has collaborated musically with Grammy-winning musician Wil Calhoun, as well as music producer Brian Eno, jazz drummer Ronne Burrage and computer scientist Jaron Lanier.

His research focuses on unresolved problems that link cosmology with quantum gravity (such as String Theory and Loop Quantum Gravity).

He earned a bachelor's degree in physics at Haverford College in 1993, and went on to earn a master's degree in 1995 and a doctorate in 2000 from Brown University.
