HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Women's volleyball middle hitter Cassie Dickmann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) and football safety and kick returner Brandon Spayd (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) have been named Juniata College's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending October 26, 2008.

Dickmann won Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors while leading the Eagles to a sweep over Washington & Lee, NYU, and Carnegie Mellon in the Wid Guisler Invitational. For the week, Dickmann hit .424 for the week, tallying 29 kills on 59 swings, with highs of 10 kills against both Washington & Lee and Carnegie Mellon. She had just four attack errors over the four games. Dickmann also recorded seven digs from her middle hitter spot.

Juniata currently holds a 27-3 record, 6-0 in the Landmark Conference. The Eagles close out their 2008 regular season this weekend, when they travel to Atlanta to take part in the Emory University National Challenge.

Spayd is receiving Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season. He recorded 10 tackles, with 1.5 tackles-for-loss, an interception return for 25 yards, and a pass break-up. He also blocked a 38-yard field goal attempt by Moravian's Brian Reckenbeil in the first quarter.

The Eagle football team faces Johns Hopkins University this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Homewood Field in Baltimore.
