SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The top-ranked Juniata College women's volleyball team opened Landmark Conference play by defeating Goucher College and Susquehanna University, both by 3-0 scores, on Saturday at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Set scores against Goucher were 25-15, 25-11, and 25-21, while scores in the Susquehanna game were 25-12, 25-17, and 25-16.

Freshman Collin Wallace (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) led the Eagles against Goucher with six kills, while Paige Johnston (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added five kills each. Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had 15 digs against the Gophers.

Thomas turned in a strong performance both offensively and defensively against the Crusaders, leading the Eagles with 11 kills while recording 11 digs. Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) logged 10 kills with three blocks, while Cassie Dickmann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) tallied nine kills.

Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) had 25 assists with three blocks, Megan Sollenberger turned up 16 digs, and Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) had three aces.

"Susquehanna played a tough game," said Juniata head coach Larry Bock. "It was a better match than the scores would indicate."

Juniata (11-0, 2-0 Landmark) wraps up play in the first of two Landmark Conference round-robin weekends on Sunday, when it faces Catholic University of America.
