LORETTO, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's and women's cross country teams ran Saturday in St. Francis University's Father Bede Hines Invitational in Loretto, Pa., which turned into a dual meet against the Red Flash.

The men's squad dropped a 24-35 decision to St. Francis, while the women fell to the Red Flash, 17-43.

Junior Matt Bailey (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) was Juniata's top finisher in the men's race, completing the hilly 5 km course in 16:56 for third place. Bailey led a trio of Juniata runners who finished 3-4-5; trailing Bailey was freshman Ceth Parker (Sabillasville, Md./Catoctin) with a time of 17:08, and Sam Williams (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central) in a time of 17:12.

Kevin Donahue (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) was 11th in the men's race with a time of 18:08, while Nik Klena (Franklin, Pa./Oil City) finished 13th in 18:21. Jon Pfadenhauer (Old Westbury, N.Y./The Wheatley School) was 16th (18:31) and Jake Hartberger (Temple, Pa./Muhlenberg) was 17th (18:35) to round out scorers for Juniata.

On the women's side, Meghan Jones (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) led Juniata with a fifth place finish in a time of 21:59 over the 5 km course. She was closely followed by Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) in sixth place with a time of 22:17.

Aubrey Cyphert (North East, Pa./Seneca) was Juniata's third-best runner with a ninth place finish in a time of 22:54, while Danielle Brooks (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) was 11th with a time of 23:22.

Elizabeth Linde (Mount Airy, Md./Linganore) was 15th (24:34), Lindsay Norton (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) was 16th (24:35), and Anne Wakabayashi (El Cajon, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) was 17th (24:36) to round out the scorers for the Eagles.

Both cross country squads will be competing at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 20, in Carlisle, Pa.
