HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior first baseman Dan Kauffman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) has been recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) as an Honorable Mention Hitter, on its list of Division III National Players of the Week for the week of March 3-9.

Kauffman hit .700 (7-for-10) last week with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, and five runs batted in, in addition to being walked eight times. He posted an astounding 2.000 slugging percentage for the week, with a .833 on-base percentage. Defensively, he did not commit an error in 36 total chances at first base over Juniata's four games.

Brad Broussard of the University of the Ozarks was named the NCBWA's National Hitter of the Week. Joining Kauffman as Honorable Mention Hitters were: Bryan Burke (Kean), Matt Hendryx (Pacific), David Nypaver (Thiel), Stu Madden (Wesley), and Jose Fulgencio (New Jersey City). Joe Bartlinski (Kean) was Division III's National Pitcher of the Week.

Juniata is currently 1-6 on the season, with its Landmark Conference opener this Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16, at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
