Chandler, Ariz. - The Juniata College baseball team did not get its spring break trip to Chandler, Ariz. off to the start it wanted as the Eagles suffered a 12-10 loss to Concordia University (Ill.) Sunday afternoon. Juniata is 0-3 in the early season while Concordia improved to 1-1. Freshman Greg Hoffman (Dulaney/Phoenix, Md.) had three hits, including his first collegiate home run, but it wasn\'t enough to help Juniata hold off a late Concordia rally. After falling behind early the in the contest, Juniata rallied to eventually take a 10-8 lead in the eighth. Senior reliever Jeff Hayes (Indian Valley/Lewistown) came on in to get the Eagles out of a jam in the seventh, but then surrendered four runs in the eighth and was charged with the loss. Junior Andrew Snyder (Punxsutawney/Punxsutawney) got the start on the mound for Juniata, and was solid through three innings before the Juniata defense began to let him down. The Eagles were hurt by defensive miscues the entire contest as the team committed five errors that helped Concordia build a lead. The Eagles did bounce back behind Hoffman\'s offense to take the lead, before the late-inning troubles. Juniata will return to action on Monday when the Eagles face Misericordia in a doubleheader. ###
