HUNTINGDON, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s tennis team had its two-match winning streak snapped as defending conference champion Elizabethtown handed the Eagles an 8-1 set-back in Commonwealth action Tuesday afternoon in Huntingdon. Juniata dropped to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play while the visiting Blue Jays are 4-0 on the season with a pair of conference wins. Juniata?s lone point on the day came at first singles where freshman Amanda Fontana (Trinity/Mechanicsburg) remained unbeaten in singles action on the season with a 6-2, 7-5 win. For the first time this season Juniata was held without a victory in doubles action as the Blue Jays took all three matches. Molly Coursey (Hanover/Westminster) and Liana James (Boulder/Boulder, Colo.) were the closest to a win at third doubles by came up short by a score of 8-3. Juniata was then unable to cut into the Elizabethtown lead in singles action as each of the matches was decided in straight sets. Maggie Wolenter?s (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) 6-4, 6-2 set-back at third singles was the closest of the matches, as no other Juniata player earned more than three games in a set. The Blue and Gold will look to get back on the winning track on Thursday when the Eagles travel for a non-conference match against Lycoming. ###
