Washington, D.C. ? Showing no signs of fatigue despite playing their second match in as many days, the Juniata College women?s tennis team captured its second-consecutive victory as the Eagles downed Catholic University by a 5-4 score Sunday afternoon. Juniata improved to 2-1 on the season. The Eagles earned a pair of wins in doubles action, and then split the six singles matches to secure the win. On the doubles courts the first doubles pairing of Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) and Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) claimed a tight 8-6 victory. Aggie Kwon (Cumberland Valley/Enola) and Amanda Fontana (Trinity/Mechanicsburg) were also triumphant at second doubles as they captured an 8-3 win. Juniata then earned three singles wins to secure the match. Fontana led the way with her first-singles win which came by a score of 6-4, 6-0. Weisser also matched her doubles victory by earning a singles win as she claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the second singles position. The final victory came at fourth singles where Kwon battled to a win in the first set with a tie-breaker and then finished it off in the second set to post a 7-6, 6-2 win. Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) and Ariel Otruba (Mansfield/Mansfield) both won the first set of their singles matches at the fifth and sixth spots respectively, but then each dropped the final two sets. Wolenter lost in straight sets at the third singles position. Juniata will look for its third-consecutive victory, and its first conference win when the Eagles host Elizabethtown on Tuesday. ###
