Juniata 3, Indiana (Pa.) 0 Indiana, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s volleyball team made its first trip away from the friendly confines of Memorial Gym Tuesday night, but the results were not any different as the Eagles claimed a 3-0 victory over Division II Indiana University (Pa.) in Indiana. The Eagles are now 5-0 on the season, while the match was the season opener for the home team. The Eagles responded quickly to the challenge of playing in unfamiliar surroundings for the first time this season after playing its first four matches this year in Huntingdon. Juniata showed no ill effects of the trip, jumping to an early lead in game one and rolling to a 30-19, 30-21, 30-26 victory. Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) paced the Juniata attack in the match as she pounded out 13 kills. Amber Thomas (Conestoga Valley/Ephrata) and Erin Albert (Philipsburg-Osceola/Philipsburg) each added seven finishes for the Blue and Gold. The Eagles also controlled the match with a strong service game in which four players recorded two aces. Albert, Megan Sollenberger (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg), Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) and Beth Kozak (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) all finished with two aces. Ritchey and Kozak split the setting duties in the match and helped Juniata record 50 kills as a team. Sollenberger also paced Juniata defensively in the contest as she brought up a team-best 10 digs. Kozak and Ritchey added nine and seven digs respectively to aide the Juniata defense. Juniata gets back in action Friday when the team begins the first day of competition at the two-day Mount Saint Joseph Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. ###
