ALTOONA, Pa. ? It took the Juniata College men?s tennis team six contests to match its win total from all of the 2005 season as the Eagles ran their record to 6-0 with a 6-3 non-conference victory over Penn State-Altoona Thursday afternoon. Penn State-Altoona fell to 1-2 with the loss.

Juniata matches its six wins from the 2005 season in which the Eagles posted a 6-5 record. The Eagles overcame an early deficit as the home team won two of the three doubles matches, but the Eagles rebounded by winning five of the six singles matches.

The Eagles were forced into comeback situations in two of the singles matches. Brian Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.) bounced back after dropping the first set of his match at third singles and claimed a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win. Jonathan Cohen (Highland Regional/Hollywood, Fla.) was in the same situation at sixth singles but rallied to post a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory.

The Eagles had an easier time of it in its other three singles wins. Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) claimed a 6-3, 6-4 victory at first singles. Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at second singles, while Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) fought through a tough first set to claim a 7-5, 6-1 win at his fourth singles match.

In doubles action, Eicher and Long claimed an 8-4 victory at first doubles to give Juniata its first point of the match.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday with a conference match against Susquehanna that was rescheduled from earlier in the week.
