HUNTINGDON, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s swimming team will head into the MAC Championships with a great deal of momentum as the Eagles claimed their third-straight dual-meet victory with a 47-26 triumph over King?s in MAC action on Saturday afternoon in Huntingdon.

The Eagles close the dual-meet season with an overall record of 6-6, and finished 4-4 against conference foes. King?s fell to 0-12 on the year with the set-back.

The Eagles got things rolling from the start as senior Kim Dierolf (Boyertown/Boyertown) picked up nine points with a victory in the 800 freestyle. That finished was matched in the next race as Collin Thompson (Altoona/Altoona) posted a first-place effort in the 200 freestyle.

Juniata then took command by sweeping the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke. Carlie Zoubek (Paul IV/Burke, Va.) earned the win in the 100 back with a lifetime best time of 1:15. 36. Lindsee Ruggles (Central/East Freedom) was right behind her in second place. Juniata then went one, two and three in the 100 breaststroke with Jenny Bair (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) taking the top spot, followed by Sam Monty (Plattsburgh/Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and Rachel Almy (Foxcroft Academy/Charleston, Me.) in second and third respectively.

Juniata posted several more strong swims in exhibition races on the day. Kasey Brough (Carlisle/Gardners) earned lifetime best swims in the 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle, while Amy Sutherland (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.) also had a lifetime-best effort in the 200 butterfly.

Senior Amy Hanson (Lancaster Catholic/Elizabethtown), who along with Dierolf was swimming in her final regular-season meet, posted a strong exhibition effort in the 50 freestyle.

The Eagles will return to action on February 10 when they will take on the field at the MAC Swimming Championships. The Eagles have placed third in the conference each of the last two seasons.
