Lebanon Valley 3, Juniata 0

Huntingdon, Pa. ? A late penalty kick for visiting Lebanon Valley broke a scoreless tie and would prove to be the difference as Juniata surrendered two more late goals and lost a Commonwealth Conference match Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops Juniata to 5-9-1 overall and 0-4 in the Commonwealth Conference. Lebanon Valley improves to 2-8-2 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

With a little over 17 minutes remaining in the game, Lebanon Valley?s Keri Foster was taken down in the Juniata box. She would convert the penalty kick, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

Less than two minutes later, Foster broke through the Juniata defense and scored again. Foster found the back of the net for the third time nine minutes later, giving her a hat trick and posting what would be the final score, 3-0.

Juniata?s best chance to score was on a Nikki McClellan (Lakeland/Lake Forest, Ca.) shot from just outside the box. McLellan, tearing up the right side of the field, somehow found an angel to get the ball past the Lebanon Valley keeper, but the ball just missed, ricocheting of the left goal post.

Kerri Lawrence (Paramus Catholic/Waldwick, N.J.) made one save in goal for the Eagles, while Lebanon Valley keeper Jess Conrad also recorded one save.

McLellan, along with fellow seniors Lindsay Garvey (Wellsboro Central/Essex, N.Y.), Lauren Welsh (Westminster/Finksburg, Md.) and Maria Welch (Jersey Shore/Avis) were recognized before the game. The four seniors were honored for their four years of dedication to the Blue and Gold.

Juniata will next be in action Thursday, when they host Elizabethtown in a Commonwealth Conference showdown and the final home game of the 2005 season.
