Annville, Pa. ? In a rare conference doubleheader the Juniata College women?s volleyball team earned two more conference victories topping Widener 3-0 and Lebanon Valley 3-0 in Annville Tuesday evening. Juniata improved to 16-1 with the two wins and improved to 4-0 in conference play. The wins also improved Juniata?s NCAA-record conference winning streak to 275 matches.

The Eagles topped Widener 30-16, 30-16, 30-22 and earned the 3-0 win over Lebanon Valley by scores of 30-26, 30-20, 30-24.

In the Widener match, Juniata had eight players finish with at least five kills as the team hit an efficient .355. Lindsey Fox (Cochranton/Meadville) and Mariel Little (Walled Lake Central/Commerce, Mi.) each posted a team-best six kills.

Freshman setter Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) enjoyed a solid all-around match as she passed out 39 assists and added a team-best nine digs and two blocks. Kristi Fitzsimmons (Diamond Ranch/Pomona, Ca.) tossed in a team-high three aces.

Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) passed out 51 assists for the Blue and Gold while adding 10 digs. Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) led the team with 23 digs, while Kristi Fitzsimmons (Diamond Ranch/Pomona, Ca.) added 12. Amber Thomas (Conestoga Valley/Ephrata) matched Ritchey with 10 digs.

The Eagles then claimed a three-game win over Lebanon Valley, paced by Katie Laucks (West York/York) who had 16 kills with a .667 hitting percentage. Rachael Schatz (West Perry/Elliotsburg) and Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) were both also in double figures as they produced 13 and 12 kills respectively.

Beth Kozak (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) passed out 51 assists in the match, and helped Juniata hit .333 as a team in the victory. Kines and Schatz paced the defense with five blocks apiece while Abby Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) and Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) each had 12 digs.

The Eagles limited Lebanon Valley to a .177 hitting percentage and had nine blocks as a team.

Juniata will be back in action this weekend as the team makes a trip to California to battle the fourth-ranked University of La Verne and Chapman College.
