Lincoln 3, Juniata 2

Lincoln University, Pa. ? A four-minute stretch of the second half spoiled a solid overall effort from the Juniata College men?s soccer team as the Eagles fell to Lincoln University by a 3-2 school Saturday afternoon. The Juniata men fell to 2-7 on the season, while Lincoln upped its record to 6-2.

After falling behind early in the first half on a goal by Lincoln?s Oluwafemi Badejo in the 22nd minute, Juniata rebounded with a pair of goals before halftime. First it was Mark Turkewitz (Dallastown/York) knocked in his first collegiate goal as he headed home a throw-in from Robert Bowser (Dallastown/York) to tie the match at one in the 24th minute.

Juniata then took the lead when Fred McNeal (Troy/Towanda) scored an unassisted goal to put the Eagles up by one. The goal came on one of Juniata?s eight first-half shots.

The Eagles continued to pressure in the second half looking to build on their lead. The Blue and Gold out-shot the home team 10-6 in the final 45 minutes, but Kyle Wanamaker made six saves in the second half to help keep the Eagles within reach.

Juniata keeper Tim Penrod (Moravia/Moravia, N.Y.) was also solid in net as he recorded four saves on the day.

Juniata maintained its lead until the 65th minute when Badejo struck again, finding the back of the net for his second goal of the game and tying the match 2-2. Just four minutes later Badejo notched the hat-trick with his third goal to put the home team in front. Peter Jarbo assisted on all three Lincoln goals.

The offense continued to pressure for Juniata, but was unable to come away with an equalizer to send the match to overtime.

Juniata opens its conference schedule Tuesday night with a match at Susquehanna.
