Greenville, Pa.? For the second time in as many matches the Juniata College women?s tennis team posted a 9-0 sweep, this time topping Thiel College in Greenville Tuesday afternoon. The win improved Juniata on the season 2-0, while the match was the season opener for Thiel.

Juniata claimed three singles matches without dropping a game. Ashley Andrews (Altoona/Altoona) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles, while Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) matched that result at the fourth singles position. Sarah Roby (Red Land/Lewisberry) also won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.

Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) at second singles and Megan Carpenter (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) at the fifth singles position both won their singles matches by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Ye Kyung Kwan (Cumberland Valley/Enola) rounded out the singles wins with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at third singles.

On the doubles courts Juniata earned 8-1 wins at each of the three doubles positions. Andrews and Weisser teamed for a win at first doubles, Kwan and Coursey claimed a win at second doubles and Roby and Carpenter earned a victory at the third doubles position.

Juniata?s two victories in 2005 have already topped its win total from the 2004 season. The Eagles will open their conference schedule on Saturday when they host Messiah.
