Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College sophomore outside hitter Glenn DeHaven (Walt Whitman/South Huntington, N.Y.) has been selected as the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Division III player of the week after a pair of strong performances for the Juniata men's volleyball team.

In Juniata's conference opener against Division I EIVA Tait Division foe Rutgers-Newark, DeHaven knocked out a career-high 24 kills in the five-game match. He added three blocks and seven digs defensively while recording a hitting percentage of .375. He opened the week with a team-high 12 kills as the top-ranked Eagles posted a 3-0 win in its Division III opener against D'Youville. His 12 kills came in just two games and finished with a .800 hitting percentage in the match. He added a pair of digs and two blocks to give him 13 points in the match. For the week, DeHaven averaged 5.5 points, and five kills per game, and boasted an impressive .491 hitting percentage.

DeHaven has emerged as a go-to offensive player for Juniata in his second collegiate season. Through Juniata's first five matches, the 6-4 outside hitter leads the team in kills with 73. He is averaging 4.06 kills per game, with an attack percentage of .408. He also ranks second on the team with 23 digs and has added seven blocks and a pair of aces in the early season. As a freshman, DeHaven earned second-team EIVA Division III All-Star recognition as he finished his first season with 201 kills, which ranked fourth on the team. He also finished with 21 aces which was third on the squad, and was fifth on the unit with 100 digs.

Juniata is the defending Division III Molten Champion, and also claimed the EIVA Division III Championship in 2004 and are currently ranked first in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Coaches Poll. Juniata is 2-3 in 2005 with each of its losses coming against Division I opponents. Juniata will take on two more Division I foes this week as the Eagles host Ohio State and Princeton.
