ANNVILLE, Pa.? The Juniata College swimming team rebounded from its first loss of the season in fine fashion, by sweeping a tri-meet against conference foes Lebanon Valley College and Drew University in Annville Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles improved their record to 5-1 overall by earning a 59-26 win over Lebanon Valley and a 64-29 triumph over Drew.

Juniata had the meet in control from the beginning as the Blue and Gold captured first-place finishes in nine of the 11 events.

The Eagles earned first and second place finishes in the 50 free as Kathy Trainor (Upper Merion/King of Prussia) and Amy Hanson (Lancaster Catholic/Elizabethtown) claimed the top two spots in that event.

The Eagles also claimed the top-two positions in the 800 free as Rachel Almy (Foxcroft Academy/Charleston, Me.) and Collin Thompson (Altoona/Altoona) earned the top spots.

Thompson added another top finish in the 400 freestyle as she placed second behind teammate Amy Sutherland (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.).

Dana Gais (Kiski Area/Saltsburg) made a strong statement with her first-place finish in the 400 IM as she claimed the win by 40 seconds over her nearest competitor.

Another top individual performance came in the 200 free with Alison Engle (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) earned a win and swam a solid time.

Also swimming well on the afternoon was freshman Carli Zoubek (Paul IV/Burke, Va.) who posted lifetime best swims in both the 100 breaststroke and the 100 backstroke.

Juniata will be back in action on Saturday when they host MAC foe the University of Scranton.
