Albright 1, Juniata 0

Huntingdon, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s soccer team played its tightest conference match of the season, but could still not quite able to come out on the winning side as the Eagles dropped a 1-0 decision to conference foe Albright College in Huntingdon Saturday afternoon.

Juniata fell to 5-8-1 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Lions upped its program-record win total to 10 as they are now 10-2-2 on the year and 2-1-1 in conference action.

Albright?s Megan Gring scored the lone goal of the game just five minutes before halftime. She converted a pass from Leigh Tomaccio to put the visitors on top 1-0.

That would be all the scoring in the match as both goalkeepers turned in solid performances. Eagle freshman keeper Lisa Russo (Lakeland/Haskell, N.J.) faced 16 shots from the visitors and made seven saves while allowing just the one goal.

Albright netminder Carly Sidone was just as sharp as she made five saves in earning the shutout.

Nikki McLellan (Parkland/Lake Forest, Ca.) had a team-high two shots for Juniata, which finished the match with nine shots.

Juniata will get back in action on Sunday when the Eagles travel to play non-conference foe Pitt-Bradford.
