Huntingdon, PA--Juniata College sophomore Mark Guthridge (DuBois/ DuBois) has earned conference recognition from the Commonwealth Conference as the Goalkeeper/ Defender of the Week for men's soccer. This marks the first time this season that Juniata has placed a player on the Player of the Week list for the conference, as well as the fist time in Guthridge's career.

Guthridge posted his first shutout of the season as he led Juniata to a 1-0 non-conference win over Lincoln University on Saturday. The sophomore keeper made five saves in the outing while facing 12 shots in earning the win. He captured the shutout, which marked the first of the season for Guthridge.

With the shutout Guthridge lowered his season goals against average to 1.41. After moving into the starting lineup three games into the season, he has allowed one goal or less in five of his eight starts. He has posted at least four saves in all but one game, and has a save percentage of .810. He has lowered his goals against average by nearly two goals from his freshman season. Over the last five games, he has posted a goals against average of 0.89.

With Guthridge in net the Eagles have started off to a 3-6-1 record for the fist 10 games of the season with most of the conference action yet to take place. The Eagles will get back into conference action on Wednesday as the Eagles host Susquehanna.
