Annville, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s volleyball team passed its first conference road test of the season as the Eagles topped conference foe Lebanon Valley College 3-0 in Annville Wednesday night. The Eagles improved their record to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference with the win. The Flying Dutchmen are 9-2 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth.

A fast game-one start set the tone for Juniata as the Eagles earned game score wins of 30-18, 30-20 and 30-26. It was the 10th 3-0 win of the season for Juniata. The victory extended Juniata?s NCAA-record conference winning streak to 266 matches.

Juniata set a blistering pace in game one as the team attacked at a .571 clip with 18 kills and just two errors and rolled to the 30-18 win. Meanwhile the team held Lebanon Valley to a .074 hitting percentage in the game.

The numbers would level out slightly in the next two games but it did not matter in the score as Juniata was able to stay in control and earn the win.

Katie Laucks (West York/York) paced the Eagle offense with 14 kills and a .478 attack percentage. Also strong at the middle of the net was Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) who posted 10 finishes and a .667 hitting percentage. The Eagles hit .323 as a team for the match.

Juniata controlled the match defensively piling up 49 digs compared to 39 for the home team. Kelly Popernik (Bartlett/Bartlett, Il.) was the leader in that category with nine in the match, with setter Carli Dale (Cochranton/Cochranton) and Tara McMinn (Huntingdon) each had seven digs. Dale passed out 40 assists in directing the Juniata offense. At the net Laucks led the team with three blocks, and she also added four aces. Amy Ressler (Hempfield/East Petersburg) and Kines registered two blocks apiece. Five different Eagles finished the match with two serve aces, helping the team pile up 15 aces for the match.

Ashley Watson and Amanda Bahn led Lebanon Valley with eight kills apiece.

Juniata will be back in action on Friday when the team will play a pair of matches at the Eastern Shore Invitational in Maryland.
